Always take into account the amount of tension applied. Some of us are more comfortable with a very tight tensions (we pull the thread very tightly) and others have a very light or soft tension. If you are inclined to pull your thread tightly, you might consider incrreasing the ply to get full coverage of your canvas.
Some fibers can be separated (i.e. Splendor, Gloriana, Soie d'Alger) and the number of ply listed below are how many ply to use after separation.
